Human factors are often not given the consideration they deserve when it comes to microlight maintenance. Due to the lesser amount of regulatory compliance required the temptation is always there for the owner to take short cuts and or not learn how to complete a repair or modification properly. The use of none aviation approved product and materials is also common place. If used properly and tested then these products will give more than adequate service but the fact that you are working on a microlight will not make substandard workmanship or materials acceptable. The PDF document below was taken from AC43.13-1b and was written with reference to certified aircraft and LAMEs, none the less the questions asked are still relevant. The last and most important one should always be on your mind when inspecting an aircraft, "AM I WILLING TO FLY IN THE AIRCRAFT ONCE IT IS APPROVED FOR THE RETURN TO SERVICE?"
